The correct 6 steps of Awakening Meditation
6 Steps of Awakening Meditation is the practice path that Teacher Tạ Minh Tuấn (Saga) presented in the book A User’s Guide to Your Mind and relate to the foundation in The Journey of Awakening. The correct six steps are: Settling the Mind, Protecting Your Own Energy, Connecting with the Higher Self, Integrating the Lesson, Union with Source Consciousness and Radiant Love.
Why Understand the 6 Steps Correctly?
If learners understand Awakening Meditation only as a series of techniques for observing the body, breath, thoughts, and emotions, they can easily miss its core: awakening to lessons, connecting with the Inner Teacher, integrating qualities into the soul, and letting love become the energy of service in daily life.
According to the book, steps 1 and 2 are like appetizers; steps 3 and 4 are the main part of the process; steps 5 and 6 make the experience fuller, deeper, and more complete.
Step 1: Settle the Mind
Settling the Mind is the step that settles the mind. Begin with a comfortable posture and sufficiently straight back, then observe the abdomen, nostrils, breathing, or another suitable anchor.
Observing the breath in Awakening Meditation belongs to the Settling the Mind step. Its purpose is to reduce mental distraction, return to the present, and clearly notice the body and breath, creating enough stability to move into deeper levels of practice.
Step 2: Protect Your Energy
Protecting Your Own Energy helps practitioners establish a stable, pure, protected energy field. This is especially important before exploring consciousness, memories, lessons, or connections with inner guidance levels more deeply.
In the book, this step is described through golden light and protective energy. In practice, it helps practitioners feel safer, clearer, and less disturbed by external influences.
Step 3: Connect with the Higher-self
Connecting with the Higher Self is the step of setting an intention to connect with the Teacher Within, Higher Self, or Universe for guidance. This connection aims at evolution, helping oneself, and bringing value to others.
This step takes practitioners beyond merely calming the mind. By asking the right questions, learners can receive the lessons, qualities, or messages they need for their current stage of life.
Step 4: Integrate the Lessons
Integrating the Lesson is the step directly following connection and guidance. Practitioners do more than “see” an experience, image, or message: they recognize the lesson, quality, truth, or life choice to bring into daily life.
This is a very important part of Awakening Meditation: every experience must return to the questions “What is the lesson?” and “How do I need to live differently?” Without integration, experiences can easily remain merely spiritual curiosity.
Step 5: Unite with Source Consciousness
Union with Source Consciousness is the step helping practitioners connect more deeply with the Source, chakras, and the truth that home, Source, Nirvana, or unity is not far away, but an energy field within their own mind.
In this step, practitioners experience unity, their own deepest nature, and the pure energy supporting the journey of evolution.
Step 6: Radiating Love
Radiant Love is Awakening Meditation’s final official step. After uniting with Source Consciousness, practitioners recognize their nature as light, joy, purity, creativity, and love.
Love here does not mean weak emotion or pity. It is love accompanied by wisdom, knowing when and how to serve, spreading healing energy, and helping practitioners live more mindfully in families, work, communities, and the world.
Practice in Order
Beginners should not rush into deep experiences. Begin with Settling the Mind, then learn Protecting Your Own Energy. Only when the foundation is sufficiently stable should the learner enter Connecting with the Higher Self and Integrating the Lesson. The final two steps make the journey more complete: Union with Source Consciousness and Radiant Love.
